GENERAL INFORMATION
HISTORY AND OWNERSHIP OF VON LEE

Von Lee International School of Aesthetics, Inc. was founded in 1978 by Carole L. Walderman, and is devoted exclusively to the teaching of professional esthetics. Von Lee was the first school for licensed esthetics in the United States and is renowned both nationally and internationally for its exceptional education program.

Carole L. Walderman, a pioneer in the field of esthetics, has over 26 years of experience in the skin care and beauty industry. With years of extensive training, Mrs. Walderman has earned diplomas and recognition for her achievements from many prestigious schools including, CIDESCO International, International School for Estheticians and Make-up Specialists and the Scuola Internazionale di Esthetica of Milan, Italy. Mrs. Walderman is a licensed cosmetologist and Esthetician, and holds an International CIDESCO Diploma, which represents the highest level of credentials that can be achieved by an Esthetician. Due to her expertise and extensive knowledge in the field of esthetics, Mrs. Walderman also serves as an examiner for CIDESCO International.


SCHOOL FACILITIES

Von Lee International School of Aesthetics, Inc. is conveniently located one mile from the Old Court Subway Station and is on the MTA bus line. Bus Number M2 and M9 stops directly in front of our facilities. Driving south for approximately 2 ½ miles from Exit 20 of the Baltimore Beltway (695), will bring you to our front door. Within walking distance of our school, you will find several restaurants and nearby hotel accommodations for lodging. A large parking lot is directly to the rear of our school. Von Lee's facilities are approximately 3000 square feet. Von Lee's Theory Room, Clinic and Make-up Center are large enough to comfortably hold 12 students and are equipped with all the tools, products and equipment to assist students in taking part in this comprehensive skin care program. The building is well-lit, heated, and air-conditioned, and is accessible to handicapped students.

 

MISSION OF VON LEE


Von Lee's mission is to educate and train Estheticians and Make-up Artists so they will be knowledgeable in the field to successfully sit for the State Board examination. Von Lee is dedicated to assisting those individuals who desire to improve themselves and who wish to broaden their career opportunities in the field of Esthetics. The growing importance of technical training in skin care is dramatized by the wide choice of job openings available due to the growing demand each year. Von Lee understands the necessity of providing quality training to all of our students.

 

The major goals of Von Lee are to:

1. Provide our students with an excellent education.

2. Prepare them to successfully complete the State Board Examination with confidence.

3. Assist the students in career placement.

4. Develop the Entrepreneurial skills of the student.

To this end, Von Lee has made every effort to provide the very finest training possible and gears its training to the needs of this rapidly growing field. Von Lee's training program is designed to provide students with highly marketable skills and knowledge that will allow them to realize their maximum career potential in the future.

HOLIDAY CLOSINGS

Von Lee is closed on the following days:

New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day after, as well as the last full week of December.

 

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Von Lee shall require for general admission into the school, the following:

  1. The prospective student must be beyond the age of compulsory education.

  2. The prospective student must be seventeen and provide proof of completion of a high school or G.E.D. Program (diploma).

  3. The prospective student has to be physically able to perform duties required for an esthetician.

  4. The State Board of Cosmetology reserves the right to review an individuals criminal record before granting a license.

ENTRANCE PROCEDURES

  1. Completion of the school application of enrollment.

  2. A personal interview is conducted by an admissions representative. During the interview, program requirements, goals, motivation, school policies, attendance, and financial needs are discussed.

  3. A student is allowed to be enrolled at the next start date once the admissions representative determines that the student has satisfied all admissions requirements. NOTE: A PROSPECTIVE STUDENT MAY NOT BEGIN TRAINING IN A PROGRAM UNTIL ALL ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN FULFILLED.

  4. A formal acceptance letter for Von Lee will be issued to the student.

OVERVIEW OF PROGRAMS

Esthetics (Full Time) - 17 Weeks - 600 Hours
Esthetics (Part Time Evening) - 56 Weeks--13 Months - 600 Hours
Esthetics (Part Time Day) - 28 Weeks--7 Months - 600 Hours


Make-Up - 5 Weeks - 40 Hours

The Maryland law requires 30 hours of training. However Von Lee provides you with an in-depth Make-up Artistry program lasting 40 hours which is above and beyond Maryland State Board of Cosmetologists' requirements.



OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM

Esthetics Program


This program is designed so that students can acquire the necessary knowledge and achieve the required hours to successfully sit for the Maryland State licensing examination for Estheticians prior to seeking employment in this field.

Make-Up Artistry Program


This program is designed so that students can acquire the necessary knowledge and achieve the expertise to obtain employment in the cosmetic industry. Von Lee will issue a certificate upon graduation that allows the student to obtain a license from the Maryland Board of Cosmetologists (student is responsible for the $25.00 license fee)

PROGRAM HOURS And TUITION

 


Program I - Esthetics Full and Part-Time

* Full time classes are offered Monday-Friday, 9a.m. - 5 p.m., for a duration of 17 weeks
* 600 hour part-time classes are offered in the day and evening.

Daytime classes are run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 9a.m. to 1 p.m.
They are also available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9-5 for a duration of 7 months.
Evening classes are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Evening classes also meet on the first and third Saturday every month from 9-4.

 

 

Program II- MAKE-UP (Exclusive)

* Offered Tuesday and Thursday Nights, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., 5 Weeks, 40 Hours

 

TUITION

1) Please contact our Admission Department for current tuition prices, rates,and class availability.

2) All students will have the option of applying for a school loan from the SLM Financial Corporation.
    Von Lee does accept all State-Based Aid Programs.

Von Lee does not participate in Federal Funding Programs ( Pell Grants, Stafford Loans, etc...)
We do accept the following forms of payment plans.
